This lot comprises five UK commemorative crown coins struck in cupro-nickel. The collection features a 1981 Royal Wedding crown celebrating the marriage of Prince Charles and Lady Diana Spencer, with conjoined profiles and the legend H.R.H. THE PRINCE OF WALES AND LADY DIANA SPENCER 1981. It is housed in a blue presentation pack printed ROYAL WEDDING COMMEMORATIVE CROWN PRODUCED BY THE ROYAL MINT TO CELEBRATE THE MARRIAGE OF HRH PRINCE CHARLES TO LADY DIANA SPENCER 29TH JULY 1981, bearing a yellow adhesive label reading AIRPORTS TAX FREE. Two 1977 Silver Jubilee crowns display an equestrian obverse inscribed ELIZABETH·II·D·G·REG·F·D·1977 and a reverse dated 1952 1977. A 1980 crown for the 80th birthday of Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother is inscribed ELIZABETH THE QUEEN MOTHER AUGUST 4th 1980. The group is completed by a 1953 Coronation crown featuring cruciform shields, presented in a square clear plastic case. All coins have milled edges and were produced by The Royal Mint.


Condition report:

The coins show signs of light handling and environmental exposure. The 1981 crown displays light contact marks to the obverse field (photo 1). The 1977 and 1980 crowns exhibit fine surface scratches and scattered areas of light toning (photo 2). The 1953 crown shows more advanced toning and surface contact marks (photo 1). The 1981 presentation pack is intact with minor edge wear. The plastic case for the 1953 crown shows surface scuffing.
