Lot 182: A Pair of UK 1951 George VI Festival of Britain Crowns

This lot comprises a pair of United Kingdom metal commemorative crowns issued for the Festival of Britain. Each coin features a bare-headed portrait of King George VI on the obverse and a St. George and dragon reverse design with the date 1951 struck in the exergue. The coins are presented in their original maroon leatherette boxes. Each case lid is gilt-stamped with the arched text FESTIVAL OF BRITAIN above a central coat of arms and the date 1951. A ribbon within the coat of arms is inscribed with the words ROYAL MINT. One box contains a printed paper informational insert with the text FESTIVAL OF BRITAIN centred within a rectangular border. The edges of the coins are milled and bear an incuse inscription. No hallmarks or fineness stamps are visible on the coins or packaging.
