Lot 162: UK 2006 Northern Ireland Egyptian Arch Bridge £1 Coin
A 2006 United Kingdom one pound coin, featuring a reverse design depicting the Egyptian Arch railway bridge in Newry. The reverse is struck with the legend ONE POUND at the lower right, set within a border of stylised Egyptian motifs. The coin is housed in its original pictorial card presentation folder, which features images of the bridge and surrounding landscape. The folder is printed with the text THE EGYPTIAN ARCH BRIDGE, NORTHERN IRELAND and BRILLIANT UNCIRCULATED £1 COIN 2006 FOR NORTHERN IRELAND. A printed logo for the Royal Mint is visible on the interior red panel. No maker’s marks or signatures are struck on the coin itself.
Condition report:
The coin appears in brilliant uncirculated condition with sharp strikes and full original luster. The reverse shows no visible contact marks or toning (photo 3). The presentation folder exhibits surface wear, most notably a cluster of white scuff marks and loss of finish to the centre of the front cover (photo 2). Minor rubbing is present along the edges and at the corners of the card folder. The coin is held securely within its original plastic mount.
