Lot 159: UK 2012 Royal Mint London 2012 Olympic Silver £5 Coin
A 2012 United Kingdom silver commemorative coin, featuring gold plating and struck to a proof finish. The reverse design displays a view of the London skyline including the Palace of Westminster and the London Eye, encircled by twenty sports pictograms. A colourised London 2012 Olympic logo is positioned to the left of the skyline. The reverse bears the struck inscription LONDON 2012. The coin is presented in a circular protective acrylic capsule within a black velvet-lined presentation box. The box lid is printed with the text THE ROYAL MINT above a coat of arms. The lot includes a black cardboard outer sleeve and a certificate bearing the text THE OFFICIAL LONDON 2012 OLYMPIC GOLD PLATED £5 SILVER PROOF COIN. A printed adhesive label on the outer sleeve features a barcode and the text LUKLGSGP, 07/01/2013, and 5026177202064.
Condition report:
The coin shows no visible signs of environmental exposure or handling. The reverse appears free from toning, tarnish, or surface marks (photo 1). The presentation box shows no visible defects (photo 3). The cardboard outer sleeve displays minor shelf wear and scuffing at the corners and edges (photo 2). The coin is supplied in its original protective acrylic capsule, presentation box, and outer sleeve with a certificate of authenticity.
