Lot 152: UK 1981 Royal Wedding Silver Proof Crown
A 1981 United Kingdom silver proof crown, issued by the Royal Mint to commemorate the marriage of the Prince of Wales and Lady Diana Spencer. The reverse features conjoined portraits of the couple facing left, with the surrounding legend H.R.H. THE PRINCE OF WALES AND LADY DIANA SPENCER 1981. The designer initials RN are struck below the truncated portraits. The coin is housed in its original circular acrylic capsule and presented in a blue Royal Mint case with a fitted blue velvet-effect interior. The lot includes a certificate of authenticity which reads SILVER PROOF COIN COMMEMORATING THE MARRIAGE OF HIS ROYAL HIGHNESS THE PRINCE OF WALES AND LADY DIANA SPENCER IN 1981 Royal Mint. The obverse features the second portrait of Elizabeth II by Arnold Machin.
Condition report:
The coin is in uncirculated proof condition. The obverse and reverse surfaces exhibit mirrored fields and frosted relief devices with high original lustre and no visible contact marks, hairlines, or toning. The protective acrylic capsule and original Royal Mint presentation case are present and appear well-preserved.
