A record or sheet music cabinet, featuring a two-tier construction. The upper section consists of a rack with multiple vertical dividers, finished with a scalloped gallery backboard. The lower section contains two cupboard doors flanking a central panelled section. The cupboard doors are decorated with relief-carved heraldic shields supported by two birds amidst foliate scrolls. The cabinet is supported by turned ball feet joined by a central stretcher. The carvings incorporate two scrolls bearing the inscriptions FIDE and CONSTANS. No maker’s marks, signatures, or labels are visible on the item.
Condition report:
The cabinet shows signs of age-related wear and domestic use. Scuffs, scratches, and abrasions are present along the edges and corners (photo 1). Small white paint splatters are visible on the exterior side panel (photo 1). The interior dividers appear structurally sound. The hardware shows a natural darkened patina.
