A 1913 oval pendant constructed from 925 silver, suspended from a fine trace link chain. The pendant features a hand-engraved foliate and fern design to the front face, accented by three applied yellow metal flowers and framed by a rope-twist border. It is attached via a tapered bail with engraved detailing. Struck to the right of the central floral spray are a series of hallmarks, including a lion passant, an anchor for the Birmingham assay office, and a lowercase letter O in a shaped cartouche for the year 1913. An impressed maker’s mark is present to the left of these punches but is not legible as a name. The chain is fitted with a circular bolt ring clasp. No other marks or signatures are visible on the piece.
Condition report:
The pendant shows signs of wear and age-related oxidation. Tarnish is visible within the recessed areas of the engraving and the rope-twist border (photo 2). Fine surface scratches and minor abrasions are present across the silver surfaces (photo 3). The yellow metal flowers exhibit a contrasting patina compared to the silver body (photo 2). The chain is in functional order. No protective box or packaging is included.
