Lot 362: An English Ashley Fine Bone China Tea Service, Courting Couple Motif

This sixteen-piece partial tea service is constructed from fine bone china with 22 carat gold highlights. The lot comprises six tea plates, five teacups, and five saucers. Each piece is decorated with a pale pink ground and elaborate gilded scrollwork borders, centering a transfer-printed vignette depicting a courting couple in 18th-century attire within a landscape. The teacups are designed with fully gilded handles and gilded interior rims. All plates and saucers feature lobed or scalloped edges. The base of each component is printed in gold with a crown device above the script name ASHLEY, further marked FINE BONE CHINA, MADE IN ENGLAND, and 22 KT. GOLD. A single capital L is printed to the left of the maker name.
