This lot comprises two heptagonal metal coins issued for the London 2012 Olympic Games, each presented in its original illustrated card mount. The first coin features a reverse design depicting a cyclist in a velodrome, with the legend 50 PENCE and the LONDON 2012 logo. Its accompanying card is printed with the text LONDON 2012 SPORTS COLLECTION and CYCLING. The second coin features a reverse design depicting basketball players against a textured surface, also featuring the 50 PENCE denomination and the LONDON 2012 logo. The corresponding card is printed with LONDON 2012 SPORTS COLLECTION and BASKETBALL. Both cards include a printed LONDON 2012 logo featuring the Olympic rings. No stamps of fineness or purity are visible on the coins, and no maker’s marks are present on the cards.
Condition report:
The coins show no visible faults, retaining their original struck lustre with sharp details and no evidence of contact marks or toning. The illustrated presentation cards are in excellent condition, showing no significant corner wear, creasing, or surface damage. The coins are securely held within their original card mounts.
