This lot comprises a pair of philatelic-numismatic covers issued by Mercury to commemorate the Royal Wedding of Prince Edward and Sophie Rhys-Jones. Each cover is formed of a printed card envelope featuring perforated postage stamps and an encapsulated white metal one crown coin. The Gibraltar cover contains stamps denominated 30P and 42P, which are cancelled with a circular date stamp reading ROYAL WEDDING 19TH JUNE 1999 GIBRALTAR. The Isle of Man cover features stamps denominated 22P, 39P, and 44P, bearing a circular date stamp reading FIRST DAY OF ISSUE DOUGLAS ISLE OF MAN 19TH JUNE 1999. Both white metal coins feature profile portraits of the couple and are inscribed THE WEDDING OF H.R.H. THE PRINCE EDWARD & MISS SOPHIE RHYS-JONES 1999 and 1 CROWN. The covers are printed with the serial numbers 0992 and 0050 respectively. A printed logo on the Isle of Man cover includes the letter M and text reading MERCURY: PO BOX 5 : WATFORD. Both items are presented in clear plastic sleeves attached to descriptive A4 backing pages containing biographical text.

Condition report:

The commemorative covers and backing pages are in excellent condition. There are no visible signs of foxing, staining, tearing, or creasing to the paper or envelopes. The stamps are well-centred with clean and clear circular date stamp cancellations. Regarding the coins, the obverse and reverse surfaces appear bright and free from significant toning or surface marks as viewed through the protective housing. The items are supplied in their original clear plastic sleeves.
