This lot comprises a 44-piece canteened flatware service for six place settings, including additional serving implements. The set is decorated in the Kings pattern, featuring scrolled edges and a prominent shell motif at the terminals and heels of the handles. The service consists of six dinner knives, six dessert knives, six dinner forks, six dessert forks, six soup spoons, six dessert spoons, six teaspoons, and two serving spoons. The items are housed in a mahogany-finished wooden canteen with a red velvet-lined interior. The back of the handles are stamped with the maker name VINERS beneath a crown and shield logo. The shanks are struck with the marks EPNS A1 SHEFFIELD ENGLAND and the British Standard mark BS 5577. The stainless steel knife blades are marked VINERS SHEFFIELD. No other maker marks, signatures, or labels are visible on the item.
Condition report:
The service is in excellent condition, with the majority of pieces remaining in their original protective plastic sleeves as shown in photo 1. Light surface tarnish is visible on the exposed metal of the serving spoons and some fork tines (photo 1). The mahogany-finished wooden canteen shows minor surface scuffs and light wear to the top exterior (photo 6). The interior lining is clean and well-maintained.
