This lot comprises two lidded trinket boxes featuring regional souvenir decoration. The first box is of circular tripod form, resting on three scroll feet. The lid and upper section are decorated with a dark blue band and metallic rims. The lid features a central coat of arms below the printed legend BENEDICITE FONTES DOMINO and above the word BUXTON. The second box is of cylindrical form with a flat lid and base. The lid is decorated with a multi-coloured pictorial transfer scene depicting a windmill, a horse-drawn plough, and a boat, framed by black scrollwork. The scene is marked with the word HEMSBY and a small green device. No maker’s marks, signatures, or labels are visible on either item.
Condition report:
The boxes show light signs of handling and surface wear. The tripod box has rubbing and wear to the metallic rims and feet (photo 1 and 2). The cylindrical box has several small dark spots and surface staining to the lid (photo 1 and 3). No chips, cracks, or repairs are visible.
