A late 19th-century open-face pocket watch, the circular case constructed from 925 silver with a hinged engine-turned back featuring a central vacant shield cartouche and a knurled border. The white enamel dial is set with black Roman numeral hour markers, a rail track minute ring, and a subsidiary seconds dial at the six o’clock position, fitted with gold-toned spade and whip-style hands. The interior houses a full-plate gilt manual wind movement. The movement plate is inscribed W A L T H A M , M A S S . , S A F E T Y P I N I O N , and the serial number 3 8 3 6 7 6 2 . Hand-scratched service marks including 7 5 5 are visible on the interior of the case lid. No other maker’s marks, signatures, or labels are visible on the case.
Condition report:
The watch shows signs of age and handling. The enamel dial exhibits multiple hairline cracks radiating from the centre towards the one and two o\'clock positions. The 925 silver case displays general surface wear, light scratches, and softening to the engine-turned decoration. The movement appears complete; however, the mechanical condition is untested.
