Buyer's Premium:

This lot comprises two circular ceramic plates, each featuring a central avian motif. The first plate is decorated with a blue and white transfer-printed design and gilded highlights, depicting a peacock amongst scrolling peonies. The rim is finished with a wide blue border containing ornate scrolling panels and floral motifs. The base bears a printed mark featuring an illustration of a panda bear above the characters PANDA R and B16. The second plate is an English fine bone china plate decorated in an Imari style palette of cobalt blue, iron red, and gold. The central design features a stylised bird of paradise perched on a flowering tree, surrounded by a border of repeating floral sprays and a gilded edge. The base of this plate bears a blue transfer-printed backstamp featuring a crown above ribbons containing EST 1775 and AYNSLEY. Below this are the words MADE IN ENGLAND, FINE ENGLISH BONE CHINA, and the pattern name BIRD OF PARADISE. A further scrolled section contains the text RE-CREATED FROM AN EARLY AYNSLEY DESIGN CIRCA 1850 AD. No other maker’s marks, signatures, or labels are visible on the items.

Condition report:

Both plates show no signs of damage or repair. The blue and white plate displays bright gilding and clear transfer printing (photo 1). The Aynsley plate retains intact enamelling and a complete gilded rim (photo 1). No chips, cracks, or crazing are present on either piece. Very light surface marks are visible on the underside foot rims (photo 2) consistent with handling.
