A 1996 United Kingdom silver proof two pound coin, commemorative of the European Football Championship. The reverse design by John Mills features a stylised football with the date 1996 struck centrally. The obverse displays the Raphael Maklouf portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. The coin is struck in sterling silver and is housed in a clear plastic capsule within a dark green presentation case. The white satin lid lining of the case is printed with the ROYAL MINT coat of arms and ribbon. The accompanying Certificate of Authenticity is printed with 1996 UNITED KINGDOM SILVER PROOF £2 COIN A CELEBRATION OF FOOTBALL CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY.
Condition report:
The reverse of the coin is in excellent proof condition with no visible toning or surface marks. The presentation case shows minor yellow foxing to the white satin interior lining near the hinge. The coin is housed in its original clear plastic capsule and includes the Certificate of Authenticity and original box.
