Coins, Gold & Silver Bullion Auction
This lot comprises two commemorative metal coins, each of heptagonal form and presented within a dedicated card folder. The first coin features a reverse design depicting an athlete in a wheelchair for wheelchair rugby, with the struck legends WHEELCHAIR RUGBY and 50 PENCE. The second coin features a reverse design for boccia, depicting a seated athlete and the struck legends BOCCIA, 2011, and 50 PENCE. Both items are part of the London 2012 sports collection as indicated by the printed legends on the packaging. The presentation cards are coloured orange and purple with stylised athletic figures and the printed legends LONDON 2012 SPORTS COLLECTION, PARALYMPIC GAMES, and LONDON 2012. The coins are mounted with their reverse faces showing. No hallmarks, fineness stamps, or maker’s marks are visible on the metal coins or their packaging.
Condition report:
The coins appear in uncirculated condition with sharp struck details and original lustre. No tarnish, toning, or surface marks are visible on the reverse faces. The printed presentation cards show minor signs of shelf wear, including light corner softening and surface rubbing (photo 1). The coins are supplied in their original illustrated card folders.
