Coins, Gold & Silver Bullion Auction
An English circular award medal for the English Golf Union Gold Medal Tournament, housed in a navy blue presentation case. The medal is of metal construction with a yellow finish. The obverse features a centrally positioned rose with stem and leaves, surrounded by a border inscribed ENGLISH GOLF UNION GOLD MEDAL TOURNAMENT. The reverse is inscribed CLUB WINNER within a circular laurel wreath tied with a bow at the base. The presentation case is lined with white satin and features a gold-foil maker’s mark for FIRMIN & SONS PLC, including two royal warrants and the text BY APPOINTMENT TO H.M. THE QUEEN BUTTON MAKERS LONDON and BY APPOINTMENT TO H.R.H. THE DUKE OF EDINBURGH BUTTON MAKERS LONDON. No hallmarks or fineness marks are visible on the medal.
Condition report:
The medal exhibits a bright and uniform finish to both the obverse and reverse, showing no visible signs of wear, tarnish, or surface scratches. The navy blue presentation case shows minor shelf wear to the external corners and edges.
