Coins, Gold & Silver Bullion Auction
This lot comprises two heptagonal white metal 50 pence coins from the London 2012 sports collection, each presented in its original retail collector card. The first coin commemorates Paralympic Archery, featuring a reverse design of a gloved hand drawing a bow with a nocked arrow beneath a LONDON 2012 Paralympic Games logo. The denomination is struck at the base as 50 PENCE. It is housed in an orange and purple retail card printed with ARCHERY and LONDON 2012 SPORTS COLLECTION. The second coin commemorates Canoeing, with the reverse depicting an athlete navigating rapids in a canoe below the LONDON 2012 Olympic logo, with the legend 50 PENCE at the base. This piece is presented in a teal and purple card printed with CANOEING and LONDON 2012 SPORTS COLLECTION. Both coins feature the Fourth Portrait of Queen Elizabeth II on the obverse. No hallmarks or fineness stamps are present on the metal surfaces. No additional maker’s marks or labels are visible.
Condition report:
The coins are in uncirculated condition and remain protected within their original retail plastic blisters. The obverse and reverse surfaces of both coins appear bright with high lustre and show no visible contact marks, toning, or environmental tarnish. The collector cards exhibit minimal shelf wear to the corners. Original retail packaging is present for both coins.
