A 2006 silver commemorative coin, struck for Fiji to celebrate the 80th birthday of Queen Elizabeth II. The obverse features a gold-gilt right-facing portrait of the monarch, with the initials IRB visible at the truncation of the neck, signifying the designer Ian Rank-Broadley. The legend is transcribed as FIJI 2006 and ELIZABETH II. The reverse displays a frosted silver relief depiction of the Duke and Duchess of York with the infant Princess Elizabeth, based on a 1926 photograph by Marcus Adams. A gold-gilt numeral 80 is positioned in the upper right field, and the legend below reads FIVE DOLLARS. The coin has a milled edge and is housed in a clear protective plastic capsule. It is accompanied by an original descriptive card from the HER MAJESTY QUEEN ELIZABETH II SILVER PROOF COIN COLLECTION, which identifies the item as a FIJI EIGHTIETH BIRTHDAY SILVER PROOF CROWN and lists the commemorative dates 1926-2006.


Condition report:

The coin shows signs of environmental exposure and handling. The obverse displays light hazy toning and surface dust visible in the mirrored fields (photo 4). The reverse exhibits similar light haze and minor dust particles (photo 2). The protective plastic capsule shows external scuffing and light scratches (photo 3). The commemorative card remains in good order with no significant creasing or staining visible.
