A 2000 Ringtons octagonal ceramic jar, featuring a faceted body and matching lid. The piece is decorated with blue transfer-printed scenes of British landmarks, including WINDSOR CASTLE on the lid and BRANCEPETH CASTLE on a side panel. The decoration is set within octagonal borders and accented by a repetitive frieze of stylised palmette motifs. Gilt bands are applied to the rims of both the lid and the base. The base features a blue transfer-printed backstamp reading RINGTONS positioned above a horse-drawn delivery cart and a banner marked MILLENNIUM 2000, with the text MANUFACTURED EXCLUSIVELY FOR RINGTONS BY WADE CERAMICS below. An impressed number 11 and a hand-painted gold mark reading MC are also visible on the underside.
Condition report:
The jar shows few signs of use. No chips, cracks, or repairs are visible to the ceramic body (photo 1, 4). The interior is clean (photo 2). The gilt decoration remains largely intact with only very minor rubbing to the edges. Light shelf wear and minor brown staining are present on the unglazed foot ring of the base (photo 3). No box or packaging is included.
