A collection of twenty-four animal figurines comprising twenty-three glazed porcelain pieces and one translucent amber-coloured figure. The porcelain assortment includes naturalistically modelled figures representing a wide variety of fauna, including an elephant, a giraffe, two hippopotami, a bison, a hedgehog, a monkey, a lion, a wolf, two squirrels, several dogs, birds, a fish, and a tortoise. These figures are finished in characteristically varied earth-colour glazes. The translucent figure is shaped as a pig and is rendered in a carved stone or resin-like material. An incised mark consisting of capital letters reading WADE and ENGLAND is present on the base of the dark brown squirrel and the side of the lion’s base.
Condition report:
The collection is in very good condition with no visible chips, cracks, or professional repairs. Delicate extremities such as the elephant\'s trunk, the giraffe\'s neck, and the tails of various animals appear fully intact (photo 1). The glazes remain bright and show no evidence of significant wear or surface loss. Minor surface dust consistent with display is present across the group (photo 2). The translucent pig figure shows no signs of damage or fractures.
