Estimated price: £10 - £15

Buyer's Premium:

A lidded claret jug in the late Victorian or Edwardian style, featuring a tapering cylindrical body of deep cobalt blue glazed ceramic. The vessel is fitted with white metal mounts including a hinged lid surmounted by a small bud finial. The spout is cast in the form of a bearded satyr mask with a ribbed, fan-shaped crest. The ornate C-scroll handle is decorated with a central cast floral boss and finished with scroll terminals. No maker’s marks, factory backstamps, or hallmarks are visible on the ceramic body or the metal mounts.

Condition report:

The ceramic body shows significant damage and a poor-quality repair to the flared foot rim (photo 3). A large section of the base has been broken and subsequently re-glued, leaving a prominent white adhesive line and associated loss of glaze. There is white residue and staining around the lower circumference of the foot. The metal mounts, lid, and handle show moderate tarnish and surface wear throughout consistent with age (photos 1, 2, and 4).
