A silver crown of the United Kingdom dated 1889, struck at the Royal Mint in London during the reign of Queen Victoria. The obverse features the Jubilee Head portrait of the Queen facing left, wearing a small crown and veil, surrounded by the Latin legend VICTORIA D:G: BRITT:REG:F:D:. The reverse displays the Benedetto Pistrucci design of St. George on horseback slaying a dragon, with the designer’s initials B.P. and the date 1889 in the exergue. The coin is composed of .925 sterling silver and features a milled edge.


Condition report:

The coin displays signs of circulation consistent with a fine to very fine state of preservation. There is moderate wear to the high points of the portrait and the reverse figures. Surfaces exhibit numerous fine contact marks, small scratches, and dark toning, particularly concentrated around the recessed lettering and design elements.
