Coins, Gold & Silver Bullion Auction
A collection of copper alloy coins from the Late Roman Imperial period, primarily dating to the 4th century AD. The obverse faces feature right-facing profile portraits of emperors, including issues belonging to the Constantinian dynasty with visible legends such as DN and CONSTANTINVS. Reverse types represented within the group include the GLORIA EXERCITVS motif depicting two soldiers with military standards and the FEL TEMP REPARATIO type featuring a soldier spearing a fallen horseman.
Condition report:
The coins are in generally poor to fair condition. Significant wear is evident across all specimens with substantial loss of detail to the portraits and legends. Surfaces exhibit dark brown, black, and olive patinas with areas of pitting. Several pieces show active green oxidation and heavy encrustation.
