A Series C Ten Pounds banknote issued by the Bank of England, featuring the signature of Chief Cashier D. H. F. Somerset. The obverse displays a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II wearing the Girls of Great Britain and Ireland Tiara. The serial number CX87 910706 appears in two positions: the upper left and lower right quadrants. The reverse depicts Florence Nightingale (1820-1910) alongside a hospital scene at Scutari during the Crimean War, including the text Florence Nightingale 1820-1910. The note is printed in brown and sepia tones with a central floral motif on the obverse and a seated Britannia medallion in the lower left corner. This series was issued between 1975 and 1991, with the Somerset signature specifically dating between 1980 and 1988.


Condition report:

The banknote is in circulated condition, graded approximately Very Fine. It features a prominent vertical centre fold and several light handling creases across the paper surface. A small nick is visible on the left-hand margin of the obverse. There is minor edge wear and light foxing or discoloration consistent with age along the upper margin. The ink remains clear and the paper shows no signs of heavy staining or major tears.
