Coins, Gold & Silver Bullion Auction
A United Kingdom ten-coin proof set issued by the Royal Mint to commemorate the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II in 1953. The set is presented in its original maroon leatherette-covered hinged case. The lid is gold-blocked with the royal cypher E II R surmounted by a St Edward’s Crown and the text Crowned 2nd June 1953. The interior features a red velvet-lined base with recessed slots for each coin and a white silk-style lid lining. The set contains ten denominations, all dated 1953: a Crown (Five Shillings), Half Crown, Two Shillings (Florin), One Shilling (English version), One Shilling (Scottish version), Sixpence, Threepence, Penny, Halfpenny, and Farthing. Included with the set is a 1-gram fine silver bullion bar produced by Valcambi Suisse. The bar is stamped with the manufacturer name, weight, fine silver 999,0, and the rectangular assay mark containing CHI ESSAYEUR FONDEUR.

Condition report:
The cupro-nickel coins, from the Crown down to the Sixpence, exhibit varying degrees of light surface toning. The bronze coins, including the Penny, Halfpenny, and Farthing, show significant iridescent and rainbow toning across their surfaces. The presentation case remains in good structural condition with minor scuffing to the exterior and light age-related wear to the interior fabric. The silver bar appears in good condition with no visible damage.
