Coins, Gold & Silver Bullion Auction
This 1980 Royal Mint proof coin set, titled The Coinage of Great Britain & Northern Ireland 1980, comprises a collection of denominations struck in cupro-nickel and bronze. The set includes the 50 new pence, 10 new pence, 5 new pence, 2 new pence, 1 new penny, and the 1/2 new penny. Each coin features a proof finish with mirrored fields and frosted relief. The coins are presented in a clear plastic display case with a textured purple background and a rectangular bronze-coloured commemorative plaque inscribed Elizabeth R 1980. The entire assembly is contained within its original royal purple presentation folder decorated with gold-coloured script.
Condition report:
The coins are in uncirculated proof condition, exhibiting high lustre with no visible signs of wear, handling, or environmental toning. The clear plastic case is well-preserved and free of significant scratching. The outer purple presentation folder shows minor shelf wear and light scuffing to the exterior surfaces and edges.
