A UK silver one shilling coin issued in 1879. The obverse features the Young Head portrait of Queen Victoria. The surrounding legend reads VICTORIA DEI GRATIA BRITANNIAR: REG: F: D:. The reverse shows the denomination ONE SHILLING in two lines surmounted by a royal crown, set within a tied wreath of laurel and oak branches. The coin is struck in .925 sterling silver with a reeded edge.
Condition report:
The coin is in a circulated condition with significant wear to the high points of the design, notably Victoria\'s hair and the wreath leaves. Both the obverse and reverse exhibit heavy dark toning. There is a visible patch of green surface residue, characteristic of verdigris, on the right side of the reverse. Numerous small nicks and fine surface scratches are present on both faces.
