Lot 12: A Pair of Sequential Bank of England Series D One Pound Banknotes, Chief Cashier J. B. Page
A pair of Bank of England Series D one pound (£1) banknotes featuring the signature of Chief Cashier J. B. Page. The obverse of each note displays a portrait of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II wearing the George IV State Diadem, accompanied by a seated Britannia roundel in the lower-left and a central caduceus motif. The reverse features a portrait of Sir Isaac Newton (1642–1727) alongside scientific vignettes including a telescope, a prism, and a celestial diagram illustrating planetary orbits. The notes are predominantly green with multi-coloured underprinting and include visible security features such as a solid vertical thread and a watermark. This lot consists of a sequential pair with serial numbers H11 254536 and H11 254537.
Condition report:
Uncirculated (UNC). The banknotes appear in pristine condition with crisp paper quality, sharp corners, and an absence of folds, pinholes, or staining.
