A commemorative polymer five pounds sterling banknote issued by the Northern Bank in Northern Ireland for the year 2000 millennium. Dated 8 October 1999 and bearing the serial number MM1567569, the note is signed by Chief Executive D. A. Price. The obverse features the bank logo, two circular iridescent foil patches, and a star-shaped transparent window. The reverse displays a prominent vignette of the Space Shuttle ascending over a grid-patterned globe with technological motifs and a clock face. This issue is historically significant as the first polymer note to circulate in the United Kingdom. It is catalogued as Pick 203a.
Condition report:
Uncirculated condition. The note is crisp with sharp corners and straight edges. There are no visible folds, creases, tears, pinholes, or stains. The security features and transparent window are clear and intact.
