A United Kingdom cupro-nickel 50 pence commemorative coin issued in 2000 to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the Public Libraries Act of 1850. The reverse design by Mary Milner Dickens features an open book with fanning pages above the inscription PUBLIC LIBRARIES and the dates 1850 and 2000. The designer’s monogram MD is located at the lower right of the book motif. The coin is struck in a seven-sided equilateral curve heptagon format with a plain edge. This specimen is presented in a blue Change Checker collector’s card bearing the inscriptions UNITED KINGDOM, 50p, and CHANGE CHECKER.

Uncirculated condition. The coin retains full original mint luster with sharp strikes and no visible signs of circulation wear or toning. The presentation card shows minimal signs of handling.
