A Bank of England Ten Shilling banknote, Series C, dating from the late 1960s. This series represents the first issue to feature the portrait of the monarch. The obverse displays a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II in the right-hand oval and a seated figure of Britannia in a smaller circular medallion to the left. The reverse depicts a larger seated Britannia holding an olive branch against a backdrop of intricate geometric patterns. The note is printed in reddish-brown ink and bears the signature of Chief Cashier J. S. Fforde (in office 1966-1970). The serial number is 28X 254418. This issue is catalogued under Pick reference P-373c.


Condition report:

Circulated. The paper shows significant age-related foxing and brownish staining across the entire surface. There is a prominent sharp central vertical fold, a soft horizontal fold, and multiple creases at the corners. The edges show minor wear and waviness. Overall condition is consistent with a Very Good grade.
