UK Bank of England One Pound (£1) banknote, Series A (Britannia), issued during the tenure of Chief Cashier B. S. Catterns (1929-1934). The obverse features a seated Britannia vignette within an ornate border on the left and a large numeral 1 on the right. The serial numbers are printed in red as K55 629124 at the top right and bottom left. The note bears the printed signature of B. S. Catterns. The reverse depicts the facade of the Bank of England building in London, flanked by two circular medallions showing St. George and the Dragon. The note is printed in green on white paper.


Condition report:

Fine (F). The banknote shows heavy circulation wear, including a deep vertical centre fold and multiple horizontal folds with associated creasing. General surface dirt and age-related foxing and discolouration are present across the paper. The corners are rounded, and the edges show light fraying and small nicks, particularly along the top margin.
