A square twin-handled earthenware serving bowl together with a matching ceramic ladle produced by Arthur Wood and Son (Longport) Ltd, Staffordshire. The pieces are decorated in the Gaudy Welsh style, a British interpretation of Japanese Imari patterns, using a palette of underglaze cobalt blue, overglaze iron red, and gilt highlights. The bowl features a paneled border with alternating stylised sunburst and diamond motifs, surrounding a central well decorated with a dense red vermicular pattern. The matching ladle features a coordinating pattern around the bowl and a moulded terminal to the handle. The underside of the bowl is marked with a green printed backstamp featuring a globe motif and banners for Arthur Wood, England.

Condition report:
The bowl has a prominent hairline crack across one corner. Both pieces exhibit significant fine crazing to the glaze, particularly on the interior and underside. There is minor wear to the overglaze red enamel and gilt detailing, along with some surface staining consistent with age and use.
