This lot comprises a pair of hand-carved wooden decorative vases, characteristic of Eastern European folk art traditions, such as those from Romania or the Hutsul region. Each vase is of a baluster form, featuring a flared rim, a bulbous central section, and a circular base. The exterior surfaces are decorated with intricate chip-carving, including large sunburst rosettes, stylised fern leaves, and banded geometric patterns. The wood is finished with contrasting brown stains, and white-painted accents are used to highlight portions of the carved decoration.
Length: approximately 270mm – 280mm
Maximum diameter: approximately 110mm.
Condition report:
The vases are in good condition, showing some minor surface scuffs, light scratches, and dust accumulation consistent with age and previous use. The carved details and painted accents remain well-preserved.
