Buyer's Premium:

A collection of coins issued by the Royal Mint, representing the final pre-decimal coinage of the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland before decimalisation in 1971. The set comprises eight proof coins dated 1970: a half crown, florin (two shillings), English shilling, Scottish shilling, sixpence, threepence, penny, and halfpenny. Centred at the top of the display is a rectangular silver medalet featuring the Royal Arms and the inscription ROYAL MINT. The coins exhibit the Mary Gillick portrait of Queen Elizabeth II on the obverse with Latin legends including ELIZABETH II DEI GRATIA REGINA and FID DEF. The set is presented in its original purple textured presentation box, featuring a gold-lettered LSD monogram and the title COINAGE OF GREAT BRITAIN AND NORTHERN IRELAND 1970, housed within a velvet-lined display case.

Condition report:

The coins are in proof condition as issued, displaying mirrored fields and frosted devices with high lustre and no visible wear or circulation marks. The purple presentation box and velvet lining show minor shelf wear and light ageing consistent with storage.
