A large Chinese porcelain pedestal table comprising a circular top resting on a cylindrical base. The tabletop features a central medallion of scrolling floral and foliate motifs in underglaze blue, encircled by a wide band of pale celadon glaze with molded relief decoration of scrolling peonies. The outer rim is decorated with a geometric diaper pattern border. The cylindrical pedestal base is painted in underglaze blue with a traditional landscape scene depicting mountains, water, and a fisherman, with a band of stylised crashing waves at the foot. A vertical six-character mark is located on the side of the top rim. The characters read: 大清乾隆年製 (Da Qing Qianlong Nian Zhi), translating to Great Qing, Qianlong Period, Made. This is an apocryphal mark and the piece was manufactured in the 20th century.
Condition report:
The table is in good decorative condition overall. The glazed top shows minor surface wear and light scratching consistent with use. There are scattered kiln-firing imperfections, including small dark spots and minor pitting. Light yellowish staining is visible on the central white-ground section of the tabletop. The base shows minor dirt and shelf wear to the foot rim.
