A Royal Mint UK silver proof 50 pence coin, dated 2011, issued as part of the commemorative series for the London 2012 Olympic Games. This issue specifically celebrates the sport of cycling. The obverse features the fourth portrait of Queen Elizabeth II by Ian Rank-Broadley, with the legend ELIZABETH II D G REG F D 2011. The reverse, designed by Pete Knizet, depicts a track cyclist within a velodrome with the London 2012 Olympic logo at the top left and the denomination 50 PENCE at the bottom right. The heptagonal coin is struck with a proof finish, characterized by mirrored fields and frosted devices. It is presented in a clear protective acrylic capsule with a black foam insert.


Condition report:

Proof strike with reflective fields. The coin exhibits significant dark peripheral toning and tarnish on both the obverse and reverse. The protective capsule shows minor surface scuffing but remains intact.
