A collection of coins comprising a nine-coin proof set for the year 1950, issued by the Royal Mint. The set includes a Half Crown, a Florin (Two Shillings), two One Shilling pieces featuring English and Scottish reverses respectively, a Sixpence, a dodecagonal brass Threepence, a Penny, a Halfpenny, and a Farthing. The denominations from Half Crown to Sixpence are struck in cupro-nickel, the Threepence in nickel-brass, and the remaining coins in bronze. The coins are housed in the original red leatherette presentation case, which features a gold-blocked Royal Mint crest and banner on the exterior lid.
Condition report:
The coins appear in uncirculated proof condition, displaying natural peripheral toning. The red presentation case shows minor external wear and scuffing to the edges. The interior fabric lining of the lid exhibits significant foxing and age-related discolouration.
