A UK 2004 Brilliant Uncirculated two pound coin issued by the Royal Mint to commemorate the 200th anniversary of the steam locomotive. This bi-metallic coin is composed of a yellow-toned nickel-brass outer ring and a silver-toned cupro-nickel inner disc. The reverse design features Richard Trevithick’s 1804 Penydarran locomotive. The outer ring is inscribed with the legends Penydarran, 2004, Richard Trevithick, 1804, Invention, Industry, and Progress. The coin is presented in its original illustrated Royal Mint presentation folder containing biographical details of Trevithick and his engineering achievements.
Condition report:
Brilliant uncirculated condition with full original mint luster. The coin shows no signs of circulation wear or handling marks. The original presentation pack is well-preserved with only minor shelf wear consistent with age.
