The obverse features a polychrome illustration of the engine with visible inscriptions including LNER on the tender and No 4472 on the front buffer beam. Three rectangular marks are positioned at the base of the design, containing the letters NP, a crown symbol, and the Roman numerals XVI. The item is housed in a clear acrylic protective capsule and is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity from NumisProof: The Hallmark of History. Research indicates this issue is struck in 2 troy ounces of .999 fine silver.
