A United Kingdom bi-metallic two-pound coin issued by the Royal Mint in 2005 to commemorate the 400th anniversary of the Gunpowder Plot. This coin is struck to Brilliant Uncirculated standard and is housed in its original illustrated presentation folder. The reverse design, created by Peter Forster, features a central arrangement of symbols including gunpowder barrels, maces, and swords, enclosed within a border of stars. The reverse legends state 1605 * 2005 and TWO POUNDS. The coin is composed of a gold-coloured nickel-brass outer ring and a silver-coloured cupro-nickel inner core. The obverse features the fourth definitive portrait of Queen Elizabeth II by Ian Rank-Broadley. The presentation folder includes historical information about the 1605 conspiracy and a facsimile signature of Guido Fawkes.
Condition report:
Brilliant uncirculated. The coin appears as issued with full original mint lustre and no visible wear or contact marks. The presentation card is in excellent condition with crisp edges and no significant signs of handling.
