This collection consists of silver proof coins from the Cook Islands, dated 2002, issued in denominations 1 through 4 in the traditional Maundy style. The obverse of each coin features a right-facing profile portrait of Queen Elizabeth II with the inscriptions ELIZABETH II and COOK ISLANDS. The reverse design displays a large central numeral for the denomination, surmounted by a crown and flanked by the split date 20 02, with a laurel wreath partially encircling the base. The coins are struck in .999 fine silver and exhibit a proof finish characterized by mirrored fields and frosted devices.
Condition report:
The coins exhibit significant dark toning and oxidation across the surfaces, which is particularly heavy on the larger denominations. Despite the environmental toning, the pieces remain in uncirculated condition with original proof lustre visible. There are no signs of wear, scratches, or edge damage.
