This UK silver coin is dated 1816 and features the George III Bull Head laureate portrait obverse. The obverse legend reads GEOR: III D: G: BRITT: REX F: D: and the reverse depicts a crowned quarterly shield within the Garter bearing the motto HONI SOIT QUI MAL Y PENSE. The coin is struck in .925 sterling silver and is identified as either a shilling (KM# 666) or a sixpence (KM# 665). This issue marks the start of the Great Recoinage following the Napoleonic Wars.


Condition report:

Fine condition. Significant wear is visible on the King\'s hair and the high relief areas of the reverse shield. The surfaces exhibit mottled dark toning and scattered minor marks consistent with circulation.
