This 2015 silver proof coin is a legal tender issue from the Republic of Benin, forming part of the Protection de la Nature series. The reverse features a central depiction of an African zebra (Zèbre d’Afrique) standing beside a termite mound, encircled by a border of twelve smaller zebra silhouettes in various poses. The inscriptions on this side include PROTECTION DE LA NATURE – ZÈBRE D’AFRIQUE, the year 2015, and the metal specification 1 OZ AG .999. The obverse depicts the coat of arms of the Republic of Benin, featuring two leopards flanking a quartered shield, positioned above a ribbon bearing the national motto FRATERNITE JUSTICE TRAVAIL. The perimeter is inscribed REPUBLIQUE DU BENIN and the denomination 1000 FRANCS CFA. The coin is struck with a proof finish, exhibiting frosted relief against highly reflective mirrored fields.
