A pair of United Kingdom commemorative 50 pence coins issued by the Royal Mint as part of the London 2012 Olympic sports collection. The lot comprises the Modern Pentathlon coin, featuring a design by David Cornell depicting the five disciplines of the sport, and the Gymnastics coin, designed by Jonathan Olliffe, which shows a gymnast with a ribbon. Both cupro-nickel coins feature the London 2012 Olympic logo and the inscription 50 PENCE on the reverse. The obverse of each coin bears the fourth definitive portrait of Queen Elizabeth II by Ian Rank-Broadley. Each coin is presented in its original official commemorative card folder with a protective plastic sleeve, featuring the distinctive brightly coloured branding of the London 2012 sports collection.
Condition report:
The coins appear to be in uncirculated condition as originally issued. The commemorative card packaging shows minor signs of shelf wear and handling, including light creasing to the plastic sleeves and very faint wear to the card edges.
