A pair of Bank of England Ten Shilling banknotes from the Series C Portrait issue. Each note features a portrait of HM Queen Elizabeth II on the obverse and a seated Britannia vignette on the reverse, printed in a predominantly reddish-brown colour scheme. One note carries the serial number 91D 424653 and bears the signature of Chief Cashier J. Q. Hollom. The second note carries the serial number C54N 817857 and bears the signature of Chief Cashier J. S. Fforde. These notes were issued between 1961 and 1970.
Condition report:
Both banknotes show signs of significant circulation. The Hollom note (91D 424653) displays multiple light creases, wavy edges, and minor foxing to the corners; estimated grade: Fine. The Fforde note (C54N 817857) is more heavily circulated, showing prominent vertical and horizontal folds, overall creasing, and significant foxing and staining, particularly to the left-hand side and along fold lines; estimated grade: Very Good.
