This lot comprises a 2004 United Kingdom 50-pence coin issued by The Royal Mint to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the first sub-four-minute mile. The coin is a seven-sided equilateral curve heptagon struck in cupro-nickel. It is housed within its original Royal Mint Brilliant Uncirculated presentation folder. The packaging includes a fold-out card featuring historical photography and text relating to the event on 6 May 1954, as well as a separate printed insert titled The Mile World Record Holders Since Roger Bannister, which lists record times and athletes from 1954 to 1999.
