A large and varied collection of vintage cigarette and trade cards primarily dating from the early to mid-20th century. The lot features cards from several prominent British tobacco manufacturers including John Player and Sons, W.D. and H.O. Wills, and W.A. and A.C. Churchman. The collection is housed within protective plastic pocket storage sheets and covers a broad spectrum of subject matter. Notable series include the Player’s Cigarettes Flags and Arms series featuring diverse locations such as Corea, Germany (Imperial era), Tunis, Holland, Cape Colony, New Zealand, and the Isle of Man with the motto Stabit Quocunque Jeceris. The W.D. and H.O. Wills cards include a Zodiac series with signs such as Aries, Virgo, Gemini, and Leo, alongside a Lucky Charms series. Churchman’s Cigarettes are represented by historical and royal event cards, including depictions of the coronation of King George VI and the proclamation of the King. Other subjects observed include veteran motor cars, historic British architecture, and heraldry. Included with the lot is a 2003 edition of the Cigarette Card Catalogue published by The London Cigarette Card Company Ltd and a booklet titled Britain’s Maritime History.

Condition report:
Generally good to very good throughout. The majority of the collection has been well-preserved within plastic sleeves. Some cards exhibit minor corner wear and light age-related toning consistent with age. The accompanying catalogue and booklet show light signs of handling and shelf wear.
