A vertical pair of UK commemorative postage stamps from the 1966 World Cup issue, featuring the black overprint reading ENGLAND WINNERS. The 4d denomination stamps were printed via photogravure by Harrison and Sons Ltd, as evidenced by the vertical printer’s imprint in the right-hand margin. The marginal paper also includes a black corner registration mark. The pair is mounted onto a white paper support containing handwritten blue ink inscriptions: With Compliments, Barlow Saturday 29.3.69, and an unidentified stylised signature.
Condition report:
Mint and uncancelled. Centring is well-balanced within the perforations. The stamps are affixed to a secondary paper backing; the condition of the gum on the reverse is not verifiable. No visible evidence of toning, foxing, or perforation defects.
